Check the review counts on each of your locations side by side. Each location has its own Google review listing; check that each store's displayed link opens the right one. Review counts alone do not establish why locations differ. A branded tap card at each location can link to that store's own Google review page so customers who choose to leave genuine feedback can find it.
What to check at each location
| Location | Link to inspect | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Flagship | Link or QR code displayed at the flagship | Confirm that the displayed link opens this location's review page |
| Store 2 | Link or QR code displayed at Store 2 | Check the card and QR code for an incorrect destination |
| Store 3 | Link or QR code displayed at Store 3 | Confirm that the supplied review URL belongs to this store |
Use link checks to identify routing errors, not review-count targets. If you invite feedback, keep it optional, welcome all genuine experiences and do not offer incentives or specify what customers should write.
3 ways multi-location businesses share review links, compared
| Method | What happens | Where it breaks | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verbal ask, per location | Staff can offer an optional invitation for genuine feedback | Customers may choose not to leave a review | Free |
| Google's free review link per location | Each store's GBP dashboard gives its own review link | Customers need a way to access the correct location's link | Free |
| Branded tap card per location | Each store's card links to its own review page | Check the destination; invitations must remain optional and must not prescribe review content | USD 19 for one Matte card; no subscription |
A 4-step per-location link check
- Check each location's link. Open each displayed link or QR code and confirm the intended store's review page. Check for incorrect or outdated destinations rather than setting review-count targets.
- Use the correct location's review link. Obtain each store's review link from its Business Profile. Supply that store's URL for its card, then test the destination before use. Do not direct customers to a different location's review page.
- Keep invitations optional. "If you'd like to leave an honest review, you can tap this card or scan the QR code. It's optional." Customers decide whether to participate and what to write. See why staff won't ask for reviews for low-pressure invitation guidance.
- Avoid incentives and pressure. Do not reward staff for review counts or set review quotas. Invite genuine feedback without filtering by satisfaction, suggesting a rating, prescribing review content or requiring a response. Customers may decline.
Honest alternatives
- Google's free per-location review links: pull each store's link from its Business Profile dashboard and put them on receipts, the website's locations page, and follow-up texts. Free — do this today regardless of hardware.
- Optional text follow-up: if customers have agreed to follow-up texts, you can share the relevant store's review link without incentives or pressure. A message does not guarantee a review.
- Reputation software: check current pricing and features directly with the provider. If you use automated invitations, keep them optional and send them only to customers who have agreed to receive them.
- Allow review counts to differ: locations do not need matching review totals. Focus on accurate links and optional invitations rather than a catch-up target.

FAQ
Should each location's card open that store's review link, or one shared link?
Use the review link for the location the customer actually visited. Check each card's destination before use.
Won't the new location catch up naturally over time?
Not necessarily. Review counts can differ for many reasons, and a card does not guarantee reviews, a timetable or matching totals. Check the link and let customers decide whether to leave genuine feedback.
Is it okay to push harder at the stores with fewer reviews?
No. Keep invitations optional. Do not pressure customers or staff, set review quotas or select customers based on satisfaction. Welcome all genuine experiences.
What if one location gets a negative review?
If you respond, be courteous and address the concern without disclosing private details. Do not offer incentives to change or remove a review. See the flagship comparison guide for more on review cards.
