For showing a photography portfolio during a conversation, compare a reusable NFC card, a printed photo card with a QR code, and a digital contact profile. Choose an NFC card when you want to keep your branded card after each introduction and open your existing portfolio on the other person's phone. Choose printed cards when clients should take a physical reminder home.

A card can get someone to your work. Your portfolio still has to show the right photographs, load on their phone and make the next step clear. Here is how to choose the card and the page together.
Illustration: a reusable card being presented beside a phone displaying a website. This is an example sharing scene, not a customer testimonial or a promise of a particular card design.
Which format fits the way you meet clients?
- One-to-one client meetings: a reusable NFC card can open your portfolio while you talk. Keep the card after the tap; the client keeps the page on their phone.
- Wedding fairs, exhibitions and unattended displays: printed photo cards with a QR code can give visitors something to take away, even when you cannot demonstrate a tap.
- Contact exchange first: compare a hosted digital contact profile if saving your name, phone and email is the main job. Check recipient app requirements, export options and ongoing fees.
- Online introductions: a direct portfolio link in your message already does the job. Physical NFC hardware is optional.
You can carry one reusable card plus a small supply of paper reminders. A premium paper finish or a metal card is a material preference, not evidence that it will produce more inquiries. Pocket Factory's cards are a branded option for opening your chosen link; do not assume they include a hosted gallery, CRM or automatic contact capture.
Use your public portfolio, not a private client gallery
Choose a page a new prospect is supposed to see. A client delivery gallery may contain private photographs, require a password or expire. An editor preview or account dashboard may work only while you are signed in. Neither is a good general networking destination.
Open the proposed URL in a signed-out browser on a phone. Confirm that the images are public, the page belongs to your business and visitors can reach your inquiry form. An NFC card does not bypass a login or a gallery password.
For a photographer with several specialties, a short portfolio landing page can offer clearly labeled choices such as weddings, portraits and commercial work. For a focused event, you may prefer one relevant gallery with a visible inquiry link. These are page-design choices on your own website, not features supplied by the physical card.
Choose a URL you can keep
Your portfolio will change as your work improves. Aim to keep its public address stable while updating the photographs behind it. Adobe Portfolio supports its built-in myportfolio.com address and your own domain; other website platforms have their own domain and publishing rules.
Before ordering, check spelling, HTTPS, redirects and whether you intend to change domains. Keep the domain and hosting active. Pocket Factory cards ship locked (read-only), so the link can't be erased or overwritten. No battery or charging is needed. If the link is wrong because of our mistake, we fix it; otherwise a new link means a new card order. Details: Can I change the link on my card?
Run this phone check before ordering
- Open the exact public URL while signed out. Avoid a page that relies on your account session.
- Use mobile data as well as Wi-Fi. Check that the gallery is usable without waiting through a large download.
- Check portrait orientation. Make sure images, navigation and the inquiry button fit without sideways scrolling.
- Try the inquiry path. Confirm where the contact or booking action leads without submitting a fake client inquiry.
- Plan the fallback. Cards have a QR code on the back by default for a compatible phone camera or QR-scanning app. Be ready to share the address by text if someone cannot tap or scan.
- Review the card configuration. Confirm the logo, destination, finish and quantity before checkout.
How many cards does a photographer need?
Start with the number of people sharing simultaneously, not the number of prospects you hope to meet. One photographer holding onto one reusable card can use it for repeated introductions. Two photographers working separate rooms need separate cards if both want to demonstrate the tap. Consider a spare and any physical handouts separately.
There is no guaranteed one-card-to-500-paper-card equivalence. Paper and reusable cards serve different interactions, and neither guarantees a booking. Compare your actual purchasing and handout needs; see our NFC, paper and digital card comparison.
What to say when someone taps
Try: “This opens my portfolio. Tap here, or scan the QR code.” Let them open the page, point out the relevant gallery and offer to share the link if they want it later. Ask them to bookmark it or use your inquiry form only if they are interested.
Opening the page does not automatically add you to their contacts, give you their email address or reserve a session. Your follow-up process belongs on your website and in the conversation.
