You printed 200 flyers for the spring promotion. They're on the counter, by the register, taped to the window. Customers walk past them like furniture. The offer is good — 20% off, this month only — but the flyer might as well be wallpaper.
Counter flyers fail for a boring reason: they ask the customer to do something later. Remember the offer, remember the code, go to the website, type it in. Every step is a place to quit, and most customers quit at step zero — they never even read it.
Make the offer instant
A tap card on the counter opens your current promotion the moment a customer taps their phone — NFC, no app needed, two seconds. Not the homepage: the offer page. The coupon code auto-applied, the sale collection, the "show this screen for 20% off" page. The customer goes from "oh, there's a sale" to holding the discount in under five seconds, while they're still in your store.
This is the whole game for in-store promotions: collapse the distance between noticing and acting to zero. A flyer can't do that. A tap can.
Honest tradeoffs
The card holds one link, and it ships locked — so don't point it at "april-sale" if your promotions change monthly. Point it at a permanent page you control, like yoursite.com/offer, and update what's on the page each month. The card never needs replacing; the page does the rotating.
And the offer still has to be good. A tap card delivers customers to a bad promotion faster — it doesn't make the promotion good.
What to order
One card per register or counter — most retail shops need one to three. Pocket Factory's tap cards carry your logo, come pre-programmed to your offer page, 1 for $19, 2 for $29, 5 for $59, one-time purchase, no subscription, free US shipping; most standard orders are expected to be produced and shipped within approximately 3–5 business days; delays are possible.
FAQ
Can I change the promotion without buying a new card?
Yes — if the card points to a page you control (like yoursite.com/offer). Update the page; the card keeps working. Only the destination URL is locked, not the page behind it.
Do customers need an app or account?
No. iPhone XS or newer and NFC Android read the card with no app, with the printed QR backup for other phones — the link opens on tap.
What if the customer doesn't have NFC?
Add the QR fallback on the back of the card — same link, both methods, no extra cost. Belt and suspenders for the two customers a week with NFC off.
