Design your NFC card with your logo →
A physical NFC card that stores a direct web link works without any app. The customer holds their phone near the card and their phone opens your website, Instagram, booking page or Google review page in the browser. iPhone XS and newer read NFC tags in the background, and Android phones with NFC turned on open web links from tags. A printed QR code covers phones that don't tap.
Pocket Factory: Your business logo on a card. Tap it, it opens your link. Each card is personalized with your logo, uses an NTAG215 chip pre-programmed with your URL, includes a printed QR backup and is a one-time purchase from $19, with no app, profile or subscription.
App-based digital cards vs direct-link NFC cards
| App or profile-based digital card | Direct-link NFC card | |
|---|---|---|
| App needed by the person receiving it? | Usually no, but you often manage it in the company's app | No. The phone opens the link in its browser |
| Where a tap goes | Usually a hosted profile page on the company's site | Straight to the link you chose |
| Ongoing cost | Many plans charge monthly or yearly for premium features | None for Pocket Factory cards that point at a direct link |
| Change the destination later? | Usually yes, inside the app | Pocket Factory cards ship locked so the link can't be erased or overwritten. Point the card at a page you control, such as your website, and update that page |
What the person tapping your card does
- iPhone XS or newer: holds the top of the phone near the card and taps the notification that appears.
- Android with NFC on: holds the middle of the back of the phone near the card. The link opens, or a notification asks them to open it.
- Older phone or NFC turned off: scans the printed QR code with the camera.
