"What are your hours?" "Do you deliver?" "Do you take walk-ins?" "Where do I park?" If you run a storefront, a salon, a clinic, or a food truck, you've answered the same five questions thousands of times. Every answer costs thirty seconds of staff time, and thirty seconds times a hundred customers a week is a part-time employee whose entire job is repeating information that's already on your website.
The usual fixes, and why they underperform
- A FAQ page on your website. It exists. Nobody visits it before asking in person.
- A printed sign. Works until it's blocked by a crowd, ignored by everyone under 30, or outdated — then it becomes wall decoration.
- A QR code to the FAQ. Functionally fine, emotionally invisible. Most people don't scan QR codes anymore.
The gap in all three: the answer isn't in the customer's hand at the moment they have the question. By the time they're standing at your counter, the FAQ page may as well not exist.
Put the answers one tap away
Here's the fix most owners haven't seen: a small tap card with your logo on the counter, at the register, or in the waiting area. A customer holds their phone near it and your FAQ page — hours, parking, delivery info, pricing, whatever you programmed — opens instantly. NFC, like tap-to-pay: no app, no scanning, no typing.
It works because it intercepts the question at its source. The person wondering about parking taps the card instead of asking your cashier, who is then free to ring up the next sale. The tradeoff is honest: it won't eliminate questions from people who prefer talking to humans, and it works best for factual, stable answers (hours, location info, policies) rather than anything that needs judgment.
Setting it up
Pocket Factory's NFC tap cards, made with your logo, can be programmed to open any link — your FAQ page, your hours page, your policies page. Cards carry your branding (logo and colors, design done for you), cost $19 one-time for a single card with packs up to 50 cards at $399, and have no subscription or monthly fee at any tier. Cards come with the Tap + QR back by default, matte finish included (glossy +$2/card), free US shipping; most standard orders are expected to be produced and shipped within approximately 3–5 business days; delays are possible, and shipped locked/read-only so the link can't be tampered with.
Start with one card at the highest-traffic question point — the register, the front desk, the waiting room. Track the questions you still hear for a week, then add the missing answers to the FAQ page the card points to. The card never changes; the page behind it gets smarter.
FAQ
What if the answer changes (new hours, new policy)?
Update your FAQ page once — every tap card in the building points at the same page, so they're all current immediately.
Do customers need a special phone or app?
No. Any modern smartphone reads NFC natively.
Can I use it for something else later?
Cards ship locked to the link you choose, so pick a page you control long-term (your FAQ or info page) rather than a specific answer.
