The short answer
A gap in Google reviews does not tell you why people stopped posting. Check that your review link still works and is easy to find, and keep invitations optional and neutral for all customers. A tap card can open your supplied link on a compatible phone, but it cannot guarantee a review or how long posting will take.
Why the reviews stall after the first month
Rather than assume why reviews slowed down, check three practical parts of your invitation:
- The invitation. Is an optional invitation available without selecting customers by how happy they seem? Keep it neutral, with no requested rating or specific review content.
- The timing. Let customers decide whether and when to review. Do not pressure them to post on the premises or while staff wait.
- The link. Open the supplied review link on a phone and check that it reaches the intended business. A tap or supported QR scan can reduce searching, but sign-in or other steps may still be needed.
Two ways to make your review link available
| Method | Cost in USD | Where the customer acts | Weakness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pocket Factory tap card | USD 19 for one Matte card; USD 29 for two Matte cards. One-time purchase; no card subscription. | A compatible phone can open your supplied Google review link by tapping; the Tap + QR back offers a scanning option where supported | Check your supplied URL before ordering. Google sign-in or additional steps may be required to post. |
| Google review link on a printed sign | No charge for the review link; printing costs vary | Where the sign is visible, without pressure to post there | A QR code needs a compatible phone camera or QR-scanning app; typing a printed URL is another option |
A simple tap-card routine
Use the card to make the link accessible, not to set a target for customer reviews:
- Make the card easy to find. A counter or checkout desk can be a convenient place for the link. Customers should be free to decline or review later, without pressure to post on the premises.
- Offer a neutral invitation: "If you'd like to leave an honest review, you can open our review link here and post whenever convenient. It's completely optional." Do not request a particular rating or specific content.
- Supply the right link. Use your Google review link and test it before ordering. Pocket Factory programs your supplied URL before shipping; opening the link does not complete a review.
- Check access periodically. Test both the NFC tap and QR code and confirm that the destination is still correct. A review gap does not establish a card or placement problem. Do not set staff solicitation quotas.
Other ways to share the link
- A receipt link or QR code can offer another way to reach the review page. Printing costs vary, and scanning requires a compatible phone camera or QR-scanning app.
- A verbal invitation can use the optional wording above. Let the customer decline without follow-up pressure.
- A post-visit text or email can include the review link when the customer has agreed to receive that kind of message. Having a phone number or email address alone is not permission to send review requests.
What NOT to do
Keep review invitations optional and honest: don't offer incentives for reviews, don't ask only happy customers, and don't buy or fake reviews. Do not pressure customers to review on the premises, set staff solicitation quotas, or request a particular rating or specific content. Make the link available without promising review volume or ranking improvements. Google Account sign-in is required to post a review. See Google’s review-content policy and review-sharing help (checked October 22, 2026).

FAQ
Why did my reviews stop coming?
A gap alone does not identify the cause. Check that the link is accessible and any invitations are optional and neutral; customers decide whether to post.
What if my newest review is months old?
Older published reviews may remain useful, but may not reflect the current experience. Newer reviews can add context; there is no guaranteed monthly number or ranking benefit from a review schedule.
Which link should I supply for my tap card?
Supply the Google review URL for the correct business and test it before ordering. It is programmed before shipping. If your destination changes later, check the link and contact Pocket Factory about available options rather than assuming it can be reprogrammed.
Do tap cards work on iPhones and Androids?
iPhone XS and newer can read the card without a card app. On iPhone 7 through X, use the NFC reader in Control Center. Android support varies: the phone must support NFC and have it enabled. Follow any phone prompt to open the link. The QR back is an alternative when scanned with a compatible phone camera or QR-scanning app; neither method guarantees that the review page will open or a review will be posted.
