Personalize your Instagram NFC cards →
The cheapest NFC card that opens your Instagram is a blank card you program yourself: Tagstand sells a blank white NTAG213 PVC card for $0.55 (checked October 17, 2026), plus shipping, and the free NFC Tools app writes your Instagram link onto it in a few taps. If you'd rather not program anything, Tap Tag's Classic Card costs $3.95 to $9.95 (Tap Tag branded, set up in their dashboard), Tapped In's Single Tap Card is $15 (a plain black card they program for you), and Pocket Factory is $19 for one card with your business logo on it, pre-programmed with your Instagram.
Here's the straight comparison, including when the $0.55 card is the smart buy.
We make one of the cards on this page (Pocket Factory), so this is a first-party comparison. When another option is the better fit, we say so.
The short answer by budget
- $0: Instagram's own QR code. Go to your profile and tap Share profile; you can download the code and print it. No NFC, but it costs nothing.
- About $0.55 plus shipping: a blank NFC card from Tagstand that you program with NFC Tools. Cheapest tap card, but it's plain white and you do the setup. One card is a small order: under $50, Tagstand adds a $2 handling fee plus postage.
- $3.95 to $9.95: Tap Tag's Classic Card, Tap Tag branded, with a QR code on every card. You point it at your Instagram in their free dashboard and can change it any time.
- $15: Tapped In's Single Tap Card, a plain matte black card they program with your one link.
- $19: Pocket Factory, your business logo on the card, pre-programmed with your Instagram link and tested before it ships, with a printed QR backup included by default and free U.S. shipping.

How to program a $0.55 blank card with your Instagram (DIY)
An NTAG213 chip holds 144 bytes, which is plenty for an Instagram profile link. You'll need a phone that can write NFC.
Step 1: Copy your Instagram profile link
In Instagram, go to your profile, tap Share profile and copy the link. It looks like https://www.instagram.com/yourhandle/. Paste it into a browser on a phone that isn't logged in to check it opens the right account.
Step 2: Install NFC Tools
Get the free NFC Tools app by wakdev (NFC Tools on the App Store, NFC Tools on Google Play). Writing works from iPhone 7 on, per the App Store listing, and on Android phones with NFC turned on.
Step 3: Write the link
Open Write, tap Add a record, choose URL / URI, paste your Instagram link and tap OK. Then tap Write and hold the blank card against the top of your iPhone or the back of your Android phone until it says the write is complete (NFC Tools: how to write a link on an NFC chip).
Step 4: Test it on two phones
Tap the card on an iPhone XS or newer and on an Android phone with NFC on. Open any notification to check the profile link. If the wrong profile opens, check the saved URL before rewriting the card.
Step 5: Decide whether to lock it
NFC Tools can lock the card so nobody else can rewrite it, but the lock can't be undone (NFC Tools FAQ). If you might change your handle later, leave it unlocked or use password protection instead.
On a compatible NFC-enabled phone, tapping the card makes your profile link available to open; the person may need to tap a notification. It usually opens in the Instagram app if they have it, or in the browser if they don't. iPhone XS and newer read NFC cards without an app (Apple's Core NFC documentation); Android phones need NFC turned on (Android's NFC documentation).
When the DIY card wins
- You're fine handing out a plain white card with nothing printed on it.
- You're happy to spend a few minutes programming and testing it yourself.
- You want many cards for very little money: Tagstand's price per card drops with quantity, and orders over $50 ship free in the U.S.
- You want to rewrite it yourself whenever your handle changes.
When Tap Tag or Tapped In wins
- Tap Tag wins if you want to change the destination often: the dashboard edits the link without touching the card, and every card has a QR code. The trade-off is that the card carries Tap Tag's branding, not yours.
- Tapped In wins if you want a simple black card set up for you for $15 and don't need your logo on it.
When Pocket Factory wins
Pick our card if you want your business logo on it and want it to arrive pre-programmed with your Instagram link and tap-tested, like the Pocket Factory Instagram or TikTok NFC card. The trade-off: it opens one link, not an editable profile, and a new link means new cards. If your handle might change, point the card at a link you control, like your website or a link-in-bio page.
Where Pocket Factory fits
One card is $19 matte or $21 glossy, one-time, with no app or subscription; multi-card packs are on the pricing page. Cards have a printed QR code backup on the back by default. Free U.S. shipping; most standard orders are expected to be produced and shipped within approximately 3–5 business days; delays are possible.

FAQ
What is the cheapest NFC card that opens my Instagram?
A blank NFC card you program yourself. Tagstand lists a blank white NTAG213 PVC card at $0.55 (checked October 17, 2026), plus a $2 handling fee and postage on U.S. orders under $50. The free NFC Tools app writes your Instagram link onto it.
Is there a pre-programmed NFC card for Instagram with no subscription?
Yes. Tapped In's Single Tap Card is $15 one-time and they program your link. Pocket Factory is $19 one-time for one card with your business logo, pre-programmed with your Instagram and tested before it ships. Tap Tag's Classic Card ($3.95 to $9.95) has no subscription either, but you set the link yourself in its dashboard. Prices checked October 17, 2026.
Do I need NTAG213 or NTAG215 for an Instagram link?
Either works. An Instagram profile link fits easily in an NTAG213's 144 bytes. Pocket Factory cards use NTAG215.
Will the card open the Instagram app?
On a compatible NFC-enabled phone, tapping the card makes your Instagram profile link available to open; the person may need to tap a notification. The link may open in the Instagram app or a browser. Instagram may require sign-in, and the person still chooses whether to tap Follow.
Can I change the Instagram link later?
On a blank card you program yourself, yes, unless you lock it (NFC Tools locks are permanent). Tap Tag cards change in their dashboard. Pocket Factory cards ship locked (read-only), so the link can't be erased or overwritten, and the card keeps working for years. If your link changes later, order new cards.
