Your business logo on a card. Tap it, it opens your link. For a dental office, the link is your practice's Google review form: patients tap the card at the front desk at checkout and the review page opens on their phone. Pocket Factory makes it as one card with your logo, pre-programmed with your link, $19 for one, no subscription: an NTAG215 NFC card with an optional QR backup, no app for anyone to download, and free U.S. shipping.

Review cards for dentists are small tap cards your front desk hands patients at checkout: the patient taps the card with their phone (or scans the QR on the back) and your practice's Google review form opens, so a patient can choose whether and when to share public feedback. The card makes the review link available during a routine post-visit handoff; it should not pressure a patient to post immediately.

Where review cards go in a dental office

  1. Front desk, at checkout: Hand the card over while scheduling the next cleaning or taking payment. This is where most reviews come from.
  2. Hygiene room handoff: The hygienist can mention it on the walk out ("reception has a card if you'd like to leave us a review") so the front desk isn't asking cold.
  3. Checkout counter holder: One card in a small holder by the payment reader, for patients who'd rather tap than talk.
  4. Not in the treatment chair: Don't ask mid-visit or while someone is numb. Ask once the visit is over.

For a multi-location group, each office needs its own card, because each location has its own Google review link (multi-location review cards). Placement ideas for any business: where to place Google review NFC cards.

Public reviews or private feedback?

A Google review is public, not a confidential patient survey. Google says reviews cannot be anonymous, and customers must sign into a Google Account to post. Explain that choice before handing over the card. Anyone may skip it or use the practice’s usual private feedback channel instead; do not reserve the Google link for satisfied patients. Let patients decide what to share without prompting treatment details or asking them to finish at the desk.

Front desk scripts that stay professional

Same words for every patient, always optional, never about treatment:

  • "If you’d like to share feedback publicly, this card opens our Google review page. It’s optional, and you can do it later."
  • "Reviews help other families find us. If you'd like to leave one, this skips the searching."
  • For a counter sign: "Tap or scan to review us on Google." (No stars, no offer.)

More scripts for the whole team: how to train staff to ask for Google reviews.

Compliance notes for dental practices

  • No incentives. No discounts, whitening, gift cards or raffle entries for reviews. Google prohibits incentivized reviews (Google's policy on incentivized reviews).
  • Ask everyone the same way. Offer the card to every patient at checkout rather than only to patients you expect to be happy.
  • Follow HIPAA when you reply. Never confirm that a reviewer is a patient, and never mention treatment, appointments, insurance or anything from their chart, even if they brought it up first. The HHS Office for Civil Rights settled with a dental practice for $23,000 after it disclosed patient names, treatment and insurance details while replying to online reviews.
  • Keep the card neutral. The card itself should only say what it does ("Tap to review us on Google"). Don't print procedure names or before-and-after claims on it.

Safe reply templates (no patient details):

  • Positive: "Thank you for the kind words. Our whole team appreciates you taking the time to share this."
  • Negative: "Thank you for the feedback. We take every concern seriously. Please call our office manager at [office phone] so we can talk privately."

What the card should open

Your practice's Google write-a-review link for that location, not your homepage or patient portal. You don't need to find the link yourself: give us your practice name and location and we find it, then confirm it before production. Here's how a pre-programmed NFC card that opens your URL works, and the setup steps: how to set up a Google review NFC card.

How to set up review cards for your practice

Step 1: Choose the review card

Open the Pocket Factory Google review card page and enter your practice website so your logo and colors load.

Step 2: Give us the practice name and location

Or paste your Google review link. We find and confirm the right link for that office before production.

Step 3: Pick a pack

One card for a single front desk, three for the desk plus hygiene handoffs, five or more for a larger practice.

Step 4: Test it when it arrives

Tap it with an iPhone and an Android phone at the front desk. It should open your review form directly.

Step 5: Brief the team

Agree on one script, ask at checkout, and decide who replies to reviews using the no-patient-details templates.

NFC card vs other ways dentists ask for reviews

Ask method Friction for the patient Fit for a dental office
"Search for us on Google" High Rarely happens once they leave
Email or text a few days later Medium Useful backup; easy to ignore
Waiting-room sign or sticker Medium Passive; patients look at it before treatment, not after
NFC review card with QR backup Low Handed over at checkout, opens the review form in one tap

Compare formats: QR vs NFC for Google reviews and stickers vs NFC tap cards.

FAQ

What is a review card for dentists?

A small NFC card with your practice logo. A patient taps it with their phone (or scans the QR on the back) and your Google review form opens, so they can leave a review at checkout.

Can we offer a discount or free whitening for a review?

No. Google prohibits incentivized reviews. Offer the card to every patient the same way, with nothing in exchange.

How should we reply to reviews under HIPAA?

Thank the reviewer without confirming they're a patient or mentioning any treatment, visit or insurance detail, and move any concern to a private phone call.

Do patients need an app?

No. An NFC-enabled iPhone (XS or newer) or Android phone opens the link from a tap, and the QR backup works with the phone camera.

Do we need a card for each location?

Yes. Each office has its own Google review link, so order a separate card for each location.

Can I change the link later?

No. Pocket Factory cards ship locked (read-only), so the link can't be erased or overwritten, and the card keeps working for years. If your link changes later, order new cards.

Can a patient use the card to leave anonymous or private feedback?

No. The card opens a public Google review page, and posting requires a Google Account. Offer the same optional invitation to everyone, allow patients to review later or skip it, and keep a private feedback option available to anyone.
