Personalize your NFC cards with Pocket Factory →

To get people to visit your website from a business card, make the visit take one step: put a tap (NFC) and a scan (QR) on the card that open a specific, phone-friendly page, such as a $19 one-time PVC NFC card from Pocket Factory programmed to your website. A printed URL alone asks people to remember it and type it later, and most never do.

Pocket Factory: Your business logo on a card. Tap it, it opens your link. The link can be your website, Instagram, Google reviews, booking page, menu or pay link. It's an NFC card with an NTAG215 chip, pre-programmed with your URL, from $19, and you can order just one, with no app or subscription.

Below: which page to link, how to measure visits even though the card itself has no analytics, and when a regular paper card is still the smarter buy.

How to get people to visit your website from a business card

Step 1: Choose the page, not just the homepage

Ask what you want the person to do next. A portfolio, a services page, a booking page or a short "nice to meet you" landing page often works better than a homepage they have to dig through.

Step 2: Make sure it loads fast on a phone

Everyone who taps or scans will be on a phone, often on cellular data. Open the page on your own phone, away from Wi-Fi, and fix anything slow or hard to read.

Step 3: Add tracking to the link you put on the card

A Pocket Factory card has no analytics of its own, but your website analytics can count the visits if you give the card a tagged URL, such as yoursite.com/?utm_source=business_card&utm_medium=nfc. Google documents these UTM parameters in Google Analytics Help. Tell us the exact URL when you order.

Step 4: Make the card do the work, not the typing

Print a short, readable URL for people who want to type it, and add a tap (NFC) and a scan (QR) option so nobody has to. Pocket Factory cards can carry both an NFC chip and a QR backup.

Step 5: Say why they should visit

"The prices and photos are on the site, tap here" or "My calendar's on there if you want to grab a time" beats "here's my card". Give one reason that matches the page you chose.

Paper vs QR vs NFC vs digital card apps

Card type Steps to reach your site Cost Better when
Paper card with printed URL Remember, unlock phone, type the address Lowest per card You hand out hundreds at events, or your audience prefers paper
Paper card with a QR code Open camera, scan Low per card You want a cheap one-step option and don't mind people scanning
PVC NFC card with QR backup (Pocket Factory) Tap, or scan $19 for one, $7.98 each in a 50-pack, one-time You meet people one-on-one and keep your own card to reuse after each tap
Digital business card app (Blinq, HiHello, Popl and others) Tap or scan to a hosted profile, then tap your website link Free tiers; paid plans are subscriptions You want an editable profile, lead capture or CRM sync

When the alternative is better: paper wins on cost when you hand cards to everyone in a room, and many people still like a paper card in a wallet. A digital card app wins if you change your details often or want lead capture, which Pocket Factory doesn't offer. Fair comparisons: NFC business cards vs paper and digital, digital business card vs NFC and Blinq alternative.

Do I need one reusable card or hundreds of handouts?

For repeated face-to-face website sharing, start with one card per person who will use it at the same time, rather than one card per recipient. You hold the card while the other person taps or scans, let them open the page, then keep the card for the next introduction. A customer does not need to take the physical card home to keep the page open on their phone.

For example, a photographer can open a portfolio during a client conversation; a consultant can share a services page; a business owner can open an appointment page at a counter. Ask the visitor to bookmark the page or use its contact or booking action if they want to return. Opening a URL does not automatically save your contact details, capture a lead or create a booking.

One card can support many introductions, but it is not a guaranteed replacement for 500 paper cards. Paper is useful when someone wants a physical reminder, cannot use their phone or needs to take your details away. Several people sharing at once need separate cards, and a spare may be useful. Compare the full purchase cost against your actual paper reorders, not a promised number of leads or sales.

For a branded card that opens an existing business page, personalize your NFC card. Cards come with the Tap + QR back by default for a printed scanning option; use a stable URL because Pocket Factory cards ship with a locked link.

Most NFC business cards open a hosted profile with buttons for your phone, email, socials and site. That's useful for some people, but if the goal is a website visit it adds a step. A Pocket Factory card opens the one URL you choose, straight away. If you'd rather share your contact details, the card can open a contact page or a hosted vCard link instead; see NFC tap cards with your logo.

Does it work on every phone?

NFC tapping works on iPhone XS and newer and on Android phones with NFC switched on (Apple's Core NFC documentation, Android's NFC documentation). Cards come with the Tap + QR back by default, so a compatible smartphone camera or QR scanner can scan it instead. More in Do NFC cards work on iPhone and Android? and What if a phone has no NFC?.

Good to know before you order: cards ship locked (read-only), so the link can't be erased or overwritten and the card keeps working for years. If your link changes later, order new cards. Details: Can I change the link on my card?.

That's one more reason to link a stable page (a landing page you control can change behind the scenes without touching the card).

FAQ

What should my business card link to?

The page that matches what you want people to do next: services, portfolio, booking or a simple landing page. A stable URL you control is best because the card ships locked.

Can I track how many people visit from my card?

The card has no analytics, but you can give it a URL with UTM tags so your website analytics counts those visits.

Is a QR code enough?

Often, yes. A QR is cheap and works with a compatible smartphone camera or QR scanner. NFC adds a faster tap for NFC phones, and Pocket Factory cards include both: a printed QR backup is included by default (Tap + QR back).

How much is an NFC business card that opens my website?

Pocket Factory cards are $19 for one matte card and $109 for ten, one-time, with free U.S. shipping.
