Design your NFC cards with Pocket Factory →
Plastic business cards are wallet-size cards printed on plastic, usually PVC, instead of paper. Pocket Factory makes PVC plastic business cards with your logo and a built-in NFC chip from $19, one-time, so one tap opens your website, contact details, booking page, social profile or reviews. If you only want the look and feel of plastic without the tap, a print shop's plain plastic cards are usually cheaper per card, and paper is cheaper still.
Price: $19 for 1 card (matte; $21 glossy). Matte packs: 2 cards $29, 3 cards $39, 5 cards $59, 10 cards $109, 25 cards $229, 50 cards $399. Glossy packs: $33 to $499. One-time, no subscription; a printed QR backup is included by default. See all prices
Pocket Factory: Your business logo on a card. Tap it, it opens your link. The link can be your website, Instagram, Google reviews, booking page, menu or pay link. It's an NFC card with an NTAG215 chip, pre-programmed with your URL, from $19, and you can order just one, with no app or subscription.
Types of plastic business cards
- Printed plastic (PVC) cards: a regular business card design printed on plastic. Print shops offer white, frosted and clear versions. They feel sturdier than paper and can carry printed contact details, a short URL or a QR code. A printed QR can open your page without an NFC chip.
- PVC NFC business cards: plastic cards with an NFC chip inside. Tapping an NFC phone to the card opens a link. This is what Pocket Factory sells.
- Metal and wood NFC cards: other materials with a chip. Pocket Factory doesn't sell these; if you want metal, look at specialist sellers.
Plastic vs paper vs PVC NFC: honest comparison
| Paper card | Printed plastic card | PVC NFC card (Pocket Factory) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost per card | Lowest | Low to moderate in bulk | $19 for one, $10.90 each in a 10-pack, $7.98 each in a 50-pack |
| Feel and durability | Bends, creases, smudges | Rigid, stands up to wallets and water better than paper | Same PVC feel, plus an embedded chip |
| How people reach you | Read printed details, type the URL or scan a printed QR code | Read printed details, type the URL or scan a printed QR code | Tap (NFC phones) or scan the QR backup on the back |
| Design options | Endless | Many, including clear and frosted at some printers | White or black base, your logo and color, matte or glossy (+$2 per card), horizontal or vertical |
| Best for | Handing to everyone at a big event | Standing out without technology | One-on-one hand-offs where you want an instant action |
When paper or printed plastic is better: if you're handing out hundreds of cards at a trade show, paper costs far less per card. If you want a clear or frosted look, or full-bleed artwork on both sides, a print shop's plastic cards give you more design freedom than we do. If you want a card that does something when it's handed over, that's where a PVC NFC card earns its price.
